IND vs AUS 1st Test: The first match of Test cricket history between India and Australia (IND vs AUS) was played 75 years ago. Just three months after independence on 15 August 1947, the Indian team was on a tour of Australia. The Indian team had come here to play a 5-match Test series. The first match of the series was in Brisbane. This was the first time that the Indian team was playing a Test match against a country other than England.

In this match, which started at the Brisbane Cricket Ground from 28 November, where the command of the Indian team was in the hands of Lala Amarnath, Australia was captained by legend batsman Donald Bradman. Here Bradman won the toss and chose to bat first. Australia had declared the innings by scoring 382 runs losing 8 wickets in the first innings thanks to the innings of 185 runs by their captain Badman. Apart from Bradman, Keith Miller (58), Lindsay Hassett (48) and Arthur Morris (47) also batted well. At the same time, Lala Amarnath took 4 wickets and Vinoo Mankad took 3 wickets from India. Chandu Sarwate also got a wicket.

When Indian batsmen batted for the first time in Australia
When the Indian innings started after Australia’s batting, Vinoo Mankad got out on the very first ball. The beginning itself was so bad that even Gul Mohammad (0) kept walking. The Indian team had lost its two wickets at zero. After this, the Indian batsmen took the inning forward by scoring one or two runs. Apart from Chandu Sarwate (12), Vijay Hazare (10) and Lala Amarnath (22), no other batsman could touch double digits. The entire Indian team got all out on just 58 runs.

Indian team could not reach 100 runs even in the second innings
Here Australia decided to feed the follow-on to the Indian team. In the second innings also the condition of the Indian team remained painful. Opener Chandu Sarwate stayed at one end and wickets kept falling from the other end. The entire Indian team was all out for 98 runs. Sarwate returned to the pavilion as the 9th wicket after scoring 26 runs. In this way, the Indian team had to face defeat by an innings and 226 runs in their first Test match against Australia. In the next four Test matches also, India had to face defeat in three. In this way India lost the series 0-4.
