You must have also heard about private jobs that holidays are less here. Good companies give their employees decent holidays, which also include some long holidays in emergency situations. For example, if an employee suddenly becomes a victim of a serious illness, he can go on sick leave. Many companies continue to pay salary during sick leave for a few months, while after that one has to go on leave without salary. Now such a case related to similar leave has come to light, knowing that you will be surprised.

55 lakhs received every year

This is the matter of IT company IBM. In this case, an employee was on sick leave for the last 15 years. It is funny that the company continued to give him salary even during these 15 years and the salary is not meager, but more than 54 thousand pounds per annum, which in Indian rupees becomes about 55 lakh rupees a year. According to the employee, this was also insufficient payment.

This was the demand of the employee

The employee filed a case against the company in the court regarding this matter. He alleged that the company has discriminated against him, because his salary has not been increased for the last 15 years. He said that inflation has increased wildly in this 15 years, but his salary is stable. In such a situation, he has suffered a loss.

This is how the case started

According to the British newspaper Telegraph, this case was done by an employee named Ian Clifford. He started a job in the year 2000 in a company called Lotus Development. Later IBM bought Lotus Development. Clifford went on sick leave in the year 2008. He filed a case against the company in the year 2013, in which he said that he did not get salary hike or holiday pay during the last five years i.e. 2008 to 2013.

IBM gave this relief

IBM settled the matter by making Clifford part of its disability plan, under which the employee continues to receive 75 percent of his salary until he turns 65. In this way, he was getting 54,028 pounds i.e. about 55.34 lakh rupees every year. In this way, in the last 15 years, he has received more than 80 million rupees from IBM. Because he demanded to increase the money according to inflation. However, when the matter came up for hearing, the court turned down Clifford’s demand. The court said that even if the amount he is getting is halved in 30 years due to inflation, it will still be a decent amount. Clifford’s demand is thus unfair.
