Sunil Gavaskar warned the Indian team before the World Cup 2023, told where there is a need for improvement

IND vs NZ 2nd ODI: Indian team is playing three ODI series against New Zealand these days. In the first match of the series, the team won by 12 runs. In this match, the Indian team, while batting first, put 349 runs on the board at the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. In response, the New Zealand team was reduced to 337 runs in 49.2 overs. The opposition team had lost 6 wickets for 131 runs. 

After this, Kiwi batsmen Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner played brilliant innings and brought the team close to victory. Bracewell scored an inning of 140 runs in 78 balls with the help of 12 fours and 10 sixes. Apart from this, Mitchell Santner scored 57 runs. Seeing this New Zealand batting, former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar appeared angry with the Indian bowling. 

Gavaskar pointed out the shortcomings of the team

Indian team is weak in defending runs

He further said, “We have seen that the Indian team is far behind in defending runs. It has also been seen in T20 International that the team is reaching 190-200 runs, but is failing to defend it. It is clearly visible that the team needs to improve its bowling.”
