Steve Smith on David Warner: David Warner scored a double century on the second day of the Boxing Day Test match being played between South Africa and Australia (SA vs AUS). He played this wonderful innings in the 100th test of his career. At one end, he was raining runs in a fast manner, while the other end was handled by Steve Smith. There was a 239-run partnership between these two for the third wicket. After the end of the day’s play, Steve Smith praised David Warner’s batting.
Smith said, ‘South Africa has an excellent bowling attack but David Warner was playing in a strong way from the first ball itself. His energy level was worth watching. He was moving his feet very well. He played a very beautiful innings. The more he was moaning in pain, the more and better shots he was playing. It was wonderful to see all this while standing at the other end.
Smith said, ‘He is definitely playing very well. He is perfectly fit. I don’t see any reason why he won’t be able to play more now. He can play as long as he wants.
Australia have huge lead
After winning the first match of the three-match Test series, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second Test. On the very first day of the match, the Australian bowlers bundled out the Proteas team for 189 runs. After this, the batsmen of Australia, while batting brilliantly, have scored 386 runs by losing three wickets till the end of the second day’s play. The lead of Kangaroos has become 197 runs. For Australia, David Warner scored 200 off 254 balls and Steve Smith scored 85 off 161 balls. Warner has retired hurt after playing his 200-run innings.
