Somvati Amavasya Puja Vidhi

• On the day of Somavati Amavasya, offer Arghya to the Sun God after taking a bath before sunrise. One should bathe in a holy river on this day, due to the rains, the water level of the rivers has increased, so take a bath by mixing Ganges water at home.
• Now anoint Shiva with Ganges water and sesame seeds in the pagoda. Offer Belpatra, Dhatura etc. to them. Present silver and white clothes to the poor.
• Plant trees like Peepal, Tulsi, Vat, Amla etc. and take a pledge to protect them.
• Make sure to donate seven grains on Somvati Amavasya, it brings peace to the nine planets. It includes rice, wheat, barley, black gram, white sesame, moong dal etc.
• In the afternoon, put black sesame, kush, flowers in the water and offer it for the peace of the souls of the ancestors. Afternoon time is considered right for Shraddha.
