DigiLocker App New Services: Prime minister Narendra Modi launched DigiLocker a few years back to take the Digital India initiative forward in the country. Now DigiLocker has added some new features to it. Millions of Indians are using DigiLocker to save their driving license, ration card, Aadhar card, mark sheet and other documents like Vehicle Registration (RC). The Digital Locker service has now launched another assistance which will help the senior citizens in the country.
what is digilocker
In simple words DigiLocker is a website or digital space (just like your cupboard) where you can store different documents issued by your government. Aadhar card is required for your identity. This cloud storage service has been created by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) under Digital India Corporation (DIC).

The digital platform has been issuing pension certificates for some time now. Recently Bank of Maharashtra has issued pension certificates to the elderly.
How to get your pension certificate from Digilocker
There are few steps involved in getting your pension certificate-
- Log in to your account from the website or the app on your smartphone.
- You will be asked for your Aadhar number / phone number and 6 digit security pin to sign-in
- You will get an OTP which will direct you to your locker.
- After logging in, look for “Bank of Maharashtra Pension Pramaan in Carousel” or go to “Search Documents” in the menu on the left-hand side of the website.
- Type ‘Pension Documents’ and you will get many options, you will have to select “Bank of Maharashtra”.
- After clicking on the link from the list, you will get a short form in which you have to enter the date of birth and OTP of the pensioner.
- click submit
Apart from this, Digilocker has offered some more new services. These new services include car insurance, water bill (in Jammu and Kashmir) and business certificate etc. According to the data of Digilocker website, the number of its users has increased rapidly from 2015 to 2022. At present it is used by 128.38 million Indians. At present, there are about 5.6 billion documents saved in DigiLocker.
