According to a report by Apna.co, a professional networking and job platform, more than 12 million professionals registered on the platform this year, leading to a 67 percent (y-o-y) user growth in 2022. Despite the opening of the market, professionals are still doing work-from-home jobs.

60 percent increase in jobs

Jobs posted by small and medium businesses (SMBs) have seen a 60 percent year-over-year increase. In this, emerging small businesses from Tier 1 and 2 cities will post more than 2.1 million jobs in 2022 alone.

According to media reports, these jobs have been found in emerging small business Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. Maximum job applications have been seen in Tier 2 cities/ it includes Bhopal, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi and Kanpur. These cities accounted for 40 percent of the total jobs posted by SMBs over the year.

MSMEs minister told the figures

During the winter session of the second Parliament, Minister of State for MSMEs Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma has shared the data of employment in MSMEs. He said that 1.31 crore people were employed in the units included in the financial year 2021-22, which was 98 percent more. 66.2 lakh workers registered in MSMEs in FY20 or pre-covid year and 16 percent more on YoY basis. The data shared by Minister Verma can be seen on the Udyam Registration Portal.

Adding 5 crore new jobs by 2025

According to the National Sample Survey (NSS), the Modi government at the Center aims to add 5 crore new jobs in the MSME sector by 2025 from the 11 crore jobs already provided. Minister Bhanu Singh Verma had said that MSMEs contribute about 30 per cent to India’s GDP and 50 per cent of the income generated from exports.
