Should not eat non-veg during pregnancy? Pesticides found in the milk of many mothers

Pesticides In Breast Milk: About 111 newborn children have died in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh in the last 10 days and the reason for the death of these infants is pesticides found in the milk of pregnant women. In a study of Queen Mary Hospital in Lucknow, it has been claimed that pesticides found in women’s milk are responsible for these deaths in Maharajganj. Now the question arises that how did the pesticides reach the mother’s milk?

The hospital tested some pregnant women to find the answer to this question. 130 vegetarian and non-vegetarian pregnant women were included in this study. This research was done by Professor Sujata Dev, Dr. Naina Dwivedi and Dr. Abbas Ali Mehndi. This study has been published in Environmental Research General. In this research, it has been said that less pesticides were found in the milk of vegetarian women than non-vegetarian women. But pesticides were found in both the women.

Fewer pesticides found in vegetarian women

According to the study, less pesticides have been found in the breast milk of women who stay away from non-vegetarian food. It has also been said in the research that chemical farming is the reason for pesticides in milk. Actually, different types of pesticides and chemicals are used to grow green vegetables or all the crops. Animals are also given injections of supplements and chemicals, due to which pesticides have formed in the breast milk of non-vegetarian women.

Three times more pesticides in the milk of a non-vegetarian woman!

Pesticides present in the milk of non-vegetarian women were three times more than that of vegetarian women. It has been said in this research that pesticides can easily reach the child through mother’s milk. Pesticides present in breast milk have caused serious harm to newborns, resulting in their death. The District Magistrate has constituted a 3-member committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to find out the reasons for the increase in child mortality.
