The state government has decided to close all state board schools in the state for all classes. Implementing the summer vacations ahead of time, the government has closed the schools in the state till June 14. Whereas all the schools in Vidarbha district will remain closed till 30th June.

The decision to close the schools has been taken in view of the extreme heat conditions in the state. Due to the heat, many people lost their lives in the state. This order is for schools affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, MSBSHSE. While schools affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and other boards in the state can continue to run. At present, the Maharashtra government has not asked to close the schools of other boards. But looking at the rising temperature, it can be guessed that soon the government will declare holiday in other board schools. At the same time, the IMD has also predicted heatwave conditions to persist in many areas of the state.
