The Rajya Sabha Secretariat has responded to a question filed on behalf of Madhya Pradesh under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. According to this, a total of Rs 100 crore was spent in 2021-23, which included Rs 33 crore in domestic and foreign travel expenses.
How much was spent in the last financial year
The Rajya Sabha Secretariat has said that during 2022-23, Rs 58.5 crore was spent on salaries of members, while Rs 30.9 crore was spent on domestic travel and Rs 2.6 crore on foreign travel. Rs 65 lakh was spent on medical and Rs 7 crore was spent on office. Apart from this, Rs 1.5 crore is included on IT services.
How much was spent on former MPs
In response to the ITR, it was said that Rs 1.7 crore has been spent on domestic travel expenses on former Rajya Sabha MPs during 2021-22 and Rs 70 lakh in 2022-23. As per records in 2021, the productivity rate of Rajya Sabha in the winter session was 43 per cent, 29 per cent in the monsoon session and 90 per cent in the budget session. The next year, the productivity was 94 per cent in the winter session, 42 per cent in the monsoon session and 90 per cent during the budget session.
