India’s men’s Test and ODI cricket captain Rohit Sharma, T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra were amongst the high-profile sportspersons who paid their tributes to Ratan Tata, following his death on October 9 (Wednesday) at the age of 86. Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons and a Padma Vibhushan awardee, was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for the past few days and breathed his last on Wednesday.
Ratan Tata played a major role in elevating the Tata conglomerate to global success and was recognised as one of the leading industrialists not only in India but also in the world.

Rohit Sharma took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his tribute to Tata calling him ‘a man with a heart of gold.’

India’s T20Is captain Suryakumar Yadav showered praise on the legacy of Ratan Tata thanking him for his service to the nation.
“End of an era. The epitome of kindness, most inspirational, marvel of a man. Sir, you have touched so many hearts. Your life has been a blessing to the nation. Thank you for your endless and unconditional service. Your legacy will live on. Rest in glory, sir,” wrote Suryakumar Yadav in a post on X.

India’s silver medallist at the Paris Olympics 2024 and gold medallist at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 Neeraj Chopra also expressed his condolences on social media mentioning about the conversations he had with Tata.
“I’m very sorry to hear about the passing of Shri Ratan Tata ji. He was a visionary, and I’ll never forget the conversation I had with him. He inspired this entire nation. I pray that his loved ones find strength. Om Shanti,” wrote Neeraj Chopra.
