RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das spoke about the risk of crypto, the need for an international framework

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das: The discussion about cryptocurrency has started once again. Now RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said in G20 that at present there are risks related to cryptocurrency or crypto property. In such a situation, there is a need for an international framework to deal with these risks. The governor said that to bring it as a fixed asset, aspects ranging from security to stability would need to be considered.

The governor said that efforts are being made to develop an international framework to deal with digital currency like crypto. IMF and Financial Stability Board are working on it. There will be a synthesis paper between the FSB and the IMF regarding the whole issue of crypto and they will form the basis of discussions keeping the future in mind.

Many options are being discussed regarding crypto

Das was speaking at the conclusion of a two-day meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors in Bengaluru. The RBI governor also said that several ideas and options are being discussed and it is too early to predict what the final structure will be. He said that it is being considered to control its risk.
