Ramiz Raja: Former cricketer Ramiz Raja has been removed from the post of chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and since then he has been making several big statements one after the other. In the last one week, he has made many allegations against the new committee looking after the affairs of Pakistan cricket. He has also commented on Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. Now he has given an interesting answer to a question about the removal of Misbah and Waqar from the coaching staff during his tenure in 2021.
Before the T20 World Cup 2021, Rameez Raja had removed Pakistan’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis while being PCB chairman. When Rameez was asked about this decision on ‘Saman TV’, he said that his decision was the need of the hour. He also told that even before becoming the chairman, he had told this change as necessary.
‘It was a difficult decision but also necessary’
Rameez said, ‘We had annual contracts. His contract would have ended in January/February anyway. We brought in a new management a little early. It was not an easy decision for me. I have played cricket with Waqar. I talked about this in detail with him. The CEO had a conversation with Misbah. This change, which happened 10 days before the T20 World Cup, was definitely not being seen well. But I knew we could only go so far with them. That’s why I had to take that decision.
Rameez said, ‘He was given full payment for two years. He was given full respect. As a chairman, I had every right to remove him. Even now he (PCB) is talking about removing Saqlain Mushtaq (current head coach) and wants to replace him with Mickey Arthur.
Now Najam Sethi is handling the command of PCB
The command of the Pakistan Cricket Board is currently in the hands of Najam Sethi. He is taking decisions related to Pakistan’s cricket with the help of a 14-member committee. He has also recently formed a new interim selection committee under the leadership of Shahid Afridi, replacing the old selection committee.
