Punjab Congress protests in the state, demands arrest and dismissal of Minister Sarri

Punjab Congress News: The Congress on Monday staged protests across the state demanding the sacking of Punjab minister Fauja Singh Sarri in connection with an audio clip. In the audio clip, the minister can be heard purportedly discussing ways to extort money from some contractors. An purported audio clip of an alleged conversation between Sarri and his former close aide had surfaced last month. He was heard purportedly discussing ways to implicate some contractors involved in the transportation of food grains through some officials so that they could be extorted.

Leader Pratap Singh Bajwa criticized AAP

Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for not sacking Sarri. The Congress leader said that the time has come that the Chief Minister god value Stop saving your minister. Bajwa along with senior party leaders and former ministers Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Aruna Chaudhary staged a dharna outside the Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum to him. Bajwa said the Congress had raised the issue of Sarari in the recent assembly session, but the ruling party led by Chief Minister Mann refused to take action against the minister.

Debate not allowed in the assembly

Bajwa said that we tried to persuade Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan to allow the opposition to debate on the issue, but he refused. The MLA from Kadian reminded Chief Minister Mann of former health minister Vijay Singla, who was sacked. He was later arrested on the basis of an audio clip, which was never made public by the AAP government. Bajwa said that however it is a different matter that Vijay Singla has been getting full support of AAP and he has not yet been sacked from the primary membership of the party.

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Wading led the protest in Patiala and hit out at the government for not taking action against the minister. Wadding demanded the arrest of Sarri. Food Processing and Defense Services Welfare Minister Sarri has denied the allegation.
