Psychological Test is compulsory for admission in Medical College of Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Government Medical College: Now before taking admission in Government Medical College in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, candidates will also have to give a psychological test. Along with physical health, now their mental health will also be checked, only after that they will be given admission. Also know that this test is compulsory and not optional. That is, this test will have to be done before admission to MBBS, MD-MS course in Government Medical College, Haldwani.

Till now only general health test was done

Let us tell you that till now only general health test was done for admission in medical college. But now mental health test has also been made mandatory. The general health test consisted of nasal-ear-throat (ENT), ophthalmology, medicine radiology and pathology examination. Girl candidates also had to give gynecological examination.

Psychological evaluation of candidates has also been made mandatory from this year. According to the PTI report, Alok Upreti, Public Relations Officer, Government Medical College, Dehradun, says that the behavior, personality and working ability of the candidates will be ascertained through the psychological test.

He further said that the only purpose of this test is that those students who have some kind of mental problem like depression or anything else can be corrected in time and care can be taken that these problems do not come in the way of their studies. According to media reports, every year three to four such students take admission in Haldwani Medical College who have some or the other mental health issue.

Because of this, they are not able to finish their syllabus on time and sometimes it takes five to six years for them to finish MBBS.

Many students take drugs

Many students have mental health problems due to taking drugs. Let us inform that there are a total of 100 seats for MBBS and MD-MS courses in Haldwani. Admission process is going on for them. Also know that there are three private medical colleges and four government medical colleges in Uttarakhand.
