AMU: Pro-Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez Prof. Tariq Mansoor has taken over as Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University. Pro. Mansoor had quit the post of vice-chancellor after being nominated as a member (MLC) of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council.
Under an official order issued by the Registrar of AMU, Mohammad Imran, on 2 April, AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. After the resignation of Tariq Mansoor, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Gulrez will perform the duties of the Vice Chancellor till the new Vice Chancellor takes over.
Apart from his 36 years of teaching and research experience, Prof. Gulrej also served as the director of the Center for South African and Brazilian Studies (August 2015), which he founded in November 2011. Prior to this, he served as visiting faculty in the Department of Political and Administrative Sciences at the National University of Rwanda, Africa and was a member of the Executive Council, AMU, the founding director of the Directorate of School Officers on Special Duty at the AMU Murshidabad Center and Provost of the Residential Halls.< /p>

Pro. Gulrej was Consultant/Researcher, Good Governance (Component) for the Poverty Alleviation Strategy Paper (PRSP) Project, Government of Rwanda in 2002. He has authored and edited seven books and contributed research papers to research journals and books published in India and abroad. Conflict Transformation in West Asia (2004), Settlements and Resistance in the Occupied Territories (ed.2005), Constitutional Poll Battle: A Study of the Iranian Presidential Election 2005 (2008), Area Studies in India (ed.2009), Arab Spring and Prospects Of Peace in West Asia (2015), Prospects of Cooperation in Higher Education and Capacity Building: A Case Study of India and Sri Lanka (2017), etc. are some of his publications.

Earlier, as a member and resource person, Prof. Gulrej represented India in Ghana and Senegal for the Pre-India-Africa Forum Summit (2013) sponsored by ICWA/MEA, Government of India. He is on the International Advisory Board of the Asian Review Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Pro. Gulrej is currently working on confidence-building measures with a focus on both the bilateral and multilateral tracks of the peace process. His areas of expertise are conflict resolution, ethnic conflict, civil society and poverty alleviation. Pro. Gulrej has traveled extensively in the United States, Iran, Pakistan, Libya, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Senegal, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait, lecturing at various universities and participating in conferences and seminars. have traveled. He holds M.Phil and PhD degrees from Aligarh Muslim University.
