Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the situation along the Line of Actual Control with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a bilateral talk on the sidelines of the 15th BRICS Summit in South Africa, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said on Thursday. Both the leaders agreed to direct officials for expeditious disengagement and de-escalation, he added. “In a conversation with Xi Jinping of China, Prime Minister highlighted India’s concern on the unresolved issues along the LAC in the western sector of India-China border areas,” Kwatra said at a press briefing on Thursday.
“Prime Minister underlined that the maintenance of the peace and tranquility in the border areas and observing and respecting the LAC are essential for the normalisation of the India-China relationship,” he added.
“In this regard, the two leader agreed to direct their offficals to intensify efforts at expeditious disengagements and de-escalation,” said the top official.
