Asia Cup 2023, PCB threatens BCCI: Discussions regarding Asia Cup 2023 are increasing day by day. Nothing has been cleared yet regarding the hosting of the Asia Cup. On one hand, Pakistan does not want the tournament to be played in a neutral venue, and on the other hand, the Indian team is also not seen going on a tour of Pakistan. BCCI secretary and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Jay Shah has already made it clear that the Indian team will not tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup.
Now a reaction has also come from the new PCB chief Najam Sethi. According to reports, Najam Sethi has told Jay Shah that Pakistan wants to host the Asia Cup and if the tournament is held elsewhere, the Pakistan team will not come to India for this year’s ODI World Cup. Earlier, former PCB chief Rameez Raja had said something similar.
Pakistan expressed its stand
A PCB source told that during the ACC Executive Board meeting held in Bahrain last Saturday, Najam Sethi told Jay Shah that Pakistan should not lose the hosting of the Asia Cup or the Champions Trophy in 2025. Will give The source said, “Najam Sethi has made his stand known. He had met the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday. He said that the Asia Cup is a multi-team tournament and the Pakistan government is ready to give security assurance to the Indian team. After this, there is no reason why the BCCI should not send the team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in September.”
Significantly, the source further told that if the BCCI is not able to get permission from its government for the Asia Cup, then the Pakistan team will also not tour India for the ODI World Cup. Now the ACC meeting will be held again in March and further decisions will be taken on this issue.
