In such a situation, these two balls of Arshdeep proved to be very expensive for IPL.

LED stumps are used in IPL. The cost of a set of these LED stumps ranges between 25 to 35 lakhs. Its price varies in different countries. In such a situation, when Arshdeep broke them on two balls back to back, the IPL suffered a loss of at least 50 to 70 lakhs.

Arshdeep broke the middle stump of Tilak Verma on the third ball of the last over of the match and then scattered the stumps of Nehal Wadhera on the fourth ball. These back to back wickets gave Punjab victory in the match as well. Punjab defeated Mumbai by 13 runs in this match.

Stumps are costlier than the salary of many IPL players
If the set of two LET stumps on both sides of the pitch is added, then their cost is between 50 to 70 lakhs. There are many players in IPL whose IPL salary is less than 50 lakhs. Veterans like Ajinkya Rahane are also included in this. In such a situation, it is surprising that the cost of the stump is more than a year’s IPL salary of a player.

Why are LED stumps so expensive?
LED lights are fitted in these stumps. It helps third umpire a lot in decisions like close run out and stumping. As soon as the ball or hand touches these stumps, their LED starts flashing, which makes it easier for the third umpire to decide.
