Fresh Spices Rates Vs Old Rates

Kashmiri chilli which was earlier available at the rate of Rs 300-500 per kg is now available at the rate of Rs 500-700 per kg.

Cumin is currently available in the retail market at Rs 800 per kg and its rate in the wholesale market has reached Rs 550-680 per kg.

Garam masala which enhances the taste of food, its price has increased by 72-80 percent so far this year.

The prices of turmeric have also increased continuously and they are available to the public mainly in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and UP with a boom.

Why are the prices of spices increasing

At present, the monsoon season is going on in the country, but this year is predicted to be an ‘El Nino year’, due to which many types of crops will be negatively affected. This time less sowing and less production is being told the reason behind the inflation of spices. Although the news of gradual increase in the prices of spices in the country has also come before, but at this time there has been such a sudden increase in the prices that it is a shocking thing.

After talking to the traders of Masala Mandi, it has come to know that the export of watermelon seeds, which are used for making spices, has increased this year, due to which the production of spices in the country has been affected. Apart from this, the negative effect of low sowing, abnormality of weather has also been seen on the production of spices.
