Digi Yatra Paperless Service: The Government of India has given great relief to the passengers for entry at some airports including Delhi. The Central Government has started a new facility (Paperless Service), under which passengers will no longer need to carry boarding passes and ID cards with them. Entry will be given at the airport only after identifying the face of the passenger.

In fact, to make selected airports of India paperless, the government has developed a software called Digi Yatra. Only by using this, people will be given entry in the airport. The software will scan the passenger’s face and only if it is recognized, the passenger will be given entry.

What is Digi Yatra
The Digi Yatra process will work on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT), which will scan the passenger’s face and allow him to enter the airport. Along with this, passengers can be relieved from checking at many check points. With the help of this facility, passengers will not need to stand in long queues.

Digi Yatra will be introduced across the country
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has launched Digi Yatra in the national capital today. Under the first step, it has been introduced at seven airports. At the same time, today three airports will be launched in Delhi, Bengaluru and Varanasi. Thereafter, it will be introduced at Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune and Vijayawada airports by March 2023. After this it will be implemented in the whole country. At present, it is being launched for domestic flight passengers.

Registration will have to be done to avail Digi Yatra facility
For any passenger to use Digi Yatra, first of all he has to do one time registration on Digi Yatra app. For registration you will need Aadhaar and a photograph clicked by you. At the same time, in the next step, the passenger will have to scan the boarding pass and share the credentials with the airport.

After this, when you go for entry at the airport, you will have to scan the coded boarding pass for the first time at the airport e-gate and the facial recognition system installed at the e-gate will validate the passenger’s identity and travel document. After this process is completed, the passenger can enter the airport through the e-gate. Thereafter, the passenger will have to follow the normal procedure to clear security and board the aircraft.

How will Digi Yatra work?
If someone uses this facility then facial biometric will be taken. After this, according to the already saved data, it will be identified and will be allowed to go to the airport. If the data is not saved on the app or portal i.e. registration has not been done, then entry will have to be taken at the airport as before.
