<p>People in the Delhi-NCR and other parts of India were jolted by a major tremor on Friday night with its epicentre in western Nepal. The epicentre of the quake was located at Lamidanda area in Jajarkot district with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, according to officials at the National Earthquake Measurement Centre.</p>
<p>A strong tremor was felt in capital Kathmandu and surrounding areas, around 500 kilometres from the epicentre. </p>
<p>While no information on the damage caused by the quake was immediately known, later reports stated that around 69 people were killed in Nepal. </p>
<p>Local officials said it had not been possible to establish contact in the area near the epicentre in Jajarkot, scattered in remote hills with a population of 1,90,000. </p>
