Durvasa cursed her for insulting her that she would leave heaven and go to earth in future. Ganga felt very sad due to this curse and seeing her innocent face, Durvasa said further. Your fast work will not be done even after going to the earth, Ganga, and you will provide salvation to the people of the earth. Years later, on the advice of King Bhagirath, Ganga came to earth and since then her name appears in the most sacred rivers here and thus the curse of Durvasa Rishi became such a great boon for all of us earthlings and we got Goddess Ganga in the form of river. .
