IIT Bombay Placements: If we look at the placements of IIT Bombay in the past years, then a figure emerges. According to this, more than 60 percent of the engineering graduates here have left their field in the last several years and chose jobs in other fields. That is, while selecting a job, he did not pay attention to the branch from which he had studied, but took jobs in other engineering branches. This trend was observed in all the branches of engineering except computer science and engineering and electrical engineering.

happened in these years

According to the Indian Express report, between 2014 and 2018, more than 60 percent graduates of IIT Bombay left their field and joined jobs in other engineering fields.

If we talk about the reason behind this, then there are many reasons on the basis of which students do this. One of these is the desire to get placement as soon as possible. Many times students are waiting for placement in their core company, then they feel that if they are not left in the placement, they accept the offer of any company they like.

raised this question

With these figures coming out, the question is also arising that when students do not choose jobs in the field of their core competence, then what is the use of spending so much money on their training. Like mechanical and electrical engineers are hired in the chemical industry. Although they can work in this field, but for that it is necessary to have knowledge of the related area.

The figures revealed on this basis

These figures are based on the data of the last five years. Under this, the data of total 2019 students was collected. Out of these, based on the response of 269 students, the result came out that they did not choose the job of their field.

The study also revealed that Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering are the only branches in which more than 82 per cent students chose a job based on their core competency. While in almost all other branches, students chose jobs in other fields.
