This time Vat Savitri Amavasya is on 19 May 2023, while Vat Savitri Purnima is on 3 June 2023. In Punjab, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Haryana, fasting is observed on the day of Vat Savitri Amavasya (Jyeshtha Amavasya). Whereas in Maharashtra and Gujarat, there is a tradition of observing this fast on Vat Savitri Purnima (Jyeshtha Purnima).
