Renuka’s journey has not been easy
Renuka Singh Thakur was born on 2 January 1996 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. When Renuka was three years old, her father died. His journey to become a cricketer was not easy. After losing his father in his childhood, he had to face many difficulties. Initially, Renuka used to play with boys with tennis ball. His father was a big fan of cricket. That’s why he named one of his sons as Vinod Kambli. His uncle Bhupinder Singh had a hand in making Renuka Singh a cricketer. He sent Renuka to Dharamshala so that she could join the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Women’s Academy.
Renuka was 13 years old when she shifted to Dharamshala. She has been a fan of South African fast bowler Dale Steyn since childhood. He has also praised this South African bowler many times on the field. Seeing Renuka bowling was a pleasant feeling in itself. In the year 2018-19, he got a chance in the Challenger Trophy. During this, he proved himself by taking 21 wickets in the tournament. Seeing his performance, Renuka was selected for the tour of Australia with India A team.
Debut in 2021
Renuka Thakur continued to perform brilliantly in domestic cricket. She plays for Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket. While Renuka has represented the Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge. He made his international debut in October 2021. On 7 October 2021, he played his first T20 International match against Australia in Carrara. And on 18 February 2022, he made his ODI debut. He has been a regular part of the Indian team since making his debut in international cricket. She has so far taken 18 wickets in ODIs and 30 wickets in T20 Internationals.

Renuka Singh Thakur is the first fast bowler in the world to take 5 wickets in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Earlier, Deandra Dottin of West Indies took four wickets for 12 runs in the 2014 T20 World Cup. And in 2014 itself, Australia’s Rene Farrell took 4 wickets for 15 runs. Now the record of best performance as a fast bowler in the T20 World Cup has been registered in the name of Renuka Singh. In the match against England on 18 February, he took 5 wickets for 15 runs.
