Venugopal Dhoot was arrested on Monday
Videocon Chairman Venugopal Dhoot was arrested on Monday and he is also likely to be made an accused in the FIR in the Videocon loan case. Videocon founder Venugopal Dhoot, 71, was arrested on Monday morning. After the arrest by the CBI, Chanda Kochhar, Deepak Kochhar and Venugopal Dhoot were produced before Justice AS Syed of the Special Court. Special Public Prosecutor A. Limousin, representing the Central Bureau of Investigation, sought three days’ custody to confront all the accused, which was granted by the court.
What happened in the loan fraud case on Tuesday
Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar on Tuesday moved the Bombay High Court, challenging their arrest by the CBI in a loan fraud case as illegal. The court, however, refused urgent hearing of the matter and directed the Kochhars to mention the matter before the regular bench when it resumes work after the vacations. The counsel appearing for the Kochhars said that the CBI did not take any prior permission before their arrest, which is required under the law.
