KL Rahul in Nagpur Test: KL Rahul is the vice-captain of the Indian Test team, but his form is still not supporting him. KL Rahul has been running out of form for the last several months. KL Rahul’s bat is not working in T20, ODI, Test, any format. Today the first Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 started in Nagpur. Before today’s match, a big question regarding the opening pair was in everyone’s mind whether KL Rahul will open with Rohit Sharma or Shubman Gill.

After the toss, the question was answered that in place of Shubman Gill, who was running in excellent form, KL Rahul, who was running in very bad form, got a chance to open with captain Rohit Sharma. This decision of the captain surprised everyone. Rohit Sharma made a brilliant start for Team India chasing only 177 runs from Australia. Rohit continued to score quick runs from the start, so that KL Rahul could get full chance to come back to his form at the other end.

KL Rahul was not comfortable at all

However, KL Rahul looked uncomfortable from the beginning of the innings. The ball was not hitting his bat properly. He was neither able to time the ball properly nor was he able to push it in the gap. KL Rahul scored only 20 runs in 71 balls at a strike rate of 28.17. His innings took only one four and finally Rahul was caught by Todd Murphy, who was debuting for Australia. In this way Rahul once again returned to the pavilion in a low score. What was it then, on one hand trollers started trolling him and on the other hand cricket experts started raising many questions.

KL Rahul’s last century in Test format came against South Africa in December 2021, where he scored an innings of 123 runs. After that, he has scored only 157 runs in 9 innings of 5 Test matches played so far. His last century in ODI format also came on 26 March 2021 i.e. almost 2 years back. At the same time, in the last 6 matches of T20 format, Rahul has scored only 128 runs. In 4 of these matches, he has not even been able to touch the figure of 10 runs.

Now KL Rahul or Shubman Gill…?

KL Rahul, who has been struggling with poor form in every format, got a chance to play in the Nagpur Test in place of Shubman Gill, who scored 4 centuries in the last one month, but even today his batting has disappointed everyone. In such a situation, questions have started to arise whether he should get more chances now or should Shubman Gill get a chance to play in his place in the next Test match.
