KL Rahul India vs Australia: Captain KL Rahul could not do anything special in the Test series played between India and Bangladesh. He was constantly seen struggling during batting on the pitch. Rahul also had to face criticism for his poor performance. Recently, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer reacted to him. Jaffer says that Rahul may be out of the Test series against Australia.
Jaffer believes that after a poor batting performance in the two-Test series in Bangladesh, Rahul will be dropped from the playing XI for the upcoming four-match home Test series against Australia. Rahul could score only 22, 23, 10 and 2 runs in four innings of two Test matches against Bangladesh. Notably, the Indian opener has scored only 137 runs in four Tests in 2022 at an average of 17.13.
Talking to ESPN Cricinfo, Jaffer said, in my opinion, KL Rahul needs to do better without any doubt. He had a very easy series as a batsman. If Rohit Sharma comes, KL will have to make room. Chasing a small target of 145, Jaffer also questioned the defending strategy of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, saying that the top-order batsmen allowed Bangladesh spinners to dominate in the fourth innings.
Bangladesh were well on their way to their first Test win against India, but Shreyas Iyer (29 not out off 46 balls) and Ravichandran Ashwin (42 not out off 62 balls) shared an unbroken 71-run partnership off 105 balls to reach the target.
