Jio BP E20 Petrol Launch In India 2023: Petrol mixed with 20 percent ethanol is known as E-20 petrol. Big news related to this E-20 (E-20) i.e. Fuel 20 is coming out. Reliance Industries and BP have started it together. Jio-BP has launched E20 petrol in the market today. Recently PM Narendra Modi (PM Modi) has launched E20 petrol during an Energy Week event in Bangalore. Know what is the big update related to this.
Why was the E20 petrol named
As the name suggests, E20 petrol will be sold in the market by mixing 20 percent ethanol. Jio-BP has become the first company in the country to launch 20 percent ethanol mix petrol in the market. The one who first started this in the country. Currently E20 petrol will be available at select Jio-BP petrol pumps and soon it will be available at all Jio-BP pumps.
Why was ethanol added to petrol?
The central government has started an initiative to reduce the country’s oil import cost. Due to this, the central government had issued a guideline for mixing ethanol in petrol for energy security, low carbon emissions, better air quality, self-reliance, use of residues like stubble and to increase the income of farmers. Jio-BP’s E20 petrol has been launched keeping in mind the country’s energy security.
Demand will increase rapidly in 20 years
A lot of boom is being seen in the Indian market regarding fuel and mobility. E20 is seen as the fastest growing fuel in the world for the next 20 years. Jio-BP Mobility Stations are designed to meet this growing demand. The Government of India is also working with the target of achieving 25 percent share in the global demand for ethanol by 2040.
Farmers got benefit, demand increased so much
India has increased the ethanol blending in petrol from 1.53 per cent in 2013-14 to 10.17 per cent in 2022. To achieve the target of 20 per cent blending by 2025, the country needs 10.2 to 11 billion liters of ethanol. There have been many other benefits including reduction in CO2 emissions of 318 lakh metric tonnes in the country and foreign exchange savings of about Rs 54,000 crore. About Rs 81,800 crore has been paid towards ethanol supply during 2014-2022, in which only farmers have received more than Rs 49,000 crore. This will benefit the farmers to a great extent.
