Nazam Sethi on Jay Shah: Nothing has been cleared about the Asia Cup 2023 to be played this year. Meanwhile, nothing has been confirmed from Pakistan side to participate in the ODI World Cup 2023 to be played in India. Amidst all these things, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Najam Sethi said that BCCI Secretary Jai Shah only smiles and does not give the reason for not playing in Pakistan.
The PCB chief said that he has no real problem with Jay Shah. Talking about Asia Cup 2023, Najam Sethi said, “We have no real problem, we had a long conversation and we are very friendly. The only problem is that he (Jay Shah) never told me the reason for not playing in Pakistan. He just smiles and says, ‘Well, you know how the situation is. Let’s not talk about it. Let’s find some other solution.
Let us tell you that it has already been clarified by the BCCI that the Indian team will not tour Pakistan for Asia Kar 2023. Countering this, the PCB said that it will not come to India for the ODI World Cup 2023. Najam Sethi while talking to ‘Sports Tak’ had said, “Pakistan will not come to India for the World Cup, we want our matches to be held only in a neutral venue.”
Najam Sethi further said, “Now this is a solution (hybrid model) that I have found, which is a compromise. I could have said that we will not play in the Asia Cup, forget about it. No hybrid model, you come and play, otherwise we are not playing. I even said that even if we play India in the final, we will play at a neutral venue only. For God’s sake, give us a face-saving dignified solution so that I can tell my people that we were the hosts and we have some matches here.”
