Ishant Sharma’s Worst Time: Team India’s veteran fast bowler Ishant Sharma has told an anecdote related to his worst days. He has told that after the defeat in Mohali ODI against Australia in the year 2013, he kept crying for a month. He has also said that he used to cry on the phone every day in front of his girlfriend for a month.

In fact, in the ODI match held 10 years ago in Mohali, Australia needed 44 runs in three overs to win over India. Here Ishant Sharma had spent 30 runs in a single over. After this expensive over, Australia had won easily. Ishant was troubled for many days in the grief of this defeat.

‘It was a matter of regret that the team lost because of me’
While narrating this anecdote in Cricbuzz’s ‘Rise of New India’ show, Ishant said, ‘The ODI played against Australia in Mohali in the year 2013 was my worst time. I don’t think there has been a worse time in my career than this. It was a very difficult time. It was not because I had given away too many runs, it was because of me the team lost. I used to date my future wife at that time and whenever I used to talk to her on the phone, I used to cry. I think I was crying for about a month.

‘Mahi Bhai and Shikhar came to the room’
During this, Ishant also mentioned his captain MS Dhoni and opener Shikhar Dhawan. He said, ‘One good thing that happened after that match was that Mahi Bhai and Shikhar came to my room and they said that you are playing well.’ Ishant also said that due to that one match, a view was also formed about me that I am not a bowler of white ball cricket.
