IRDAI has issued guidelines saying that in Uttarakhand, due to land subsidence and landslides, some property has been damaged, in such a situation, there is a need to take immediate steps to reduce the difficulties of the affected insured population, so that their claims can be registered along with the registration of the affected people. can be settled as soon as possible.
IRDAI has asked insurance companies to appoint a nodal officer at the level of a company who will act as the nodal officer in the affected districts. The nodal officer will settle all the appropriate claims, apart from coordinating the receipt and processing. The nodal officers will be in constant touch with the designated officers of the state government after contacting them immediately.
The insurance regulator has said that there is a need to survey all claims immediately. And release the claim payment / account payment soon and in any case it should not take more time than the fixed timeline. IRDAI has asked general insurance companies to depute adequate number of surveyors and if required, surveyors have been asked to be called from nearby areas as well. IRDAI has also asked the companies to run an awareness campaign and along with this instructions have also been given to tell the people what steps have been taken by them so far.
Insurance companies have been asked to encourage policyholders to use electronic means for filing claims and documents. Along with this, the assessment of claims should be ensured through digital medium. Also, insurance companies have been asked to submit claim settlement data to the authority on a monthly basis.
