Mutual Fund Industry: People are investing a lot of money in mutual funds. This can be gauged from the fact that in just one year, this market has increased by Rs 2.2 lakh crore and in the year 2022, the business of mutual funds (Mutual Fund Industry) has reached Rs 39.88 lakh crore. Due to increasing trend of investors towards SIP, a good increase is being seen in AUM of mutual fund industry.
According to data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi) on Tuesday, the AUM of the mutual fund industry is set to grow by 5.7 per cent, or Rs 2.2 lakh crore, to reach Rs 39.88 lakh crore in 2022. Although this is much less than the 22 percent increase in AUM in 2021. In 2021, the AUM of the Mutual Fund industry had increased by about seven lakh crore rupees to reach 37.72 lakh crore.
Investment of 12,500 crores every month in mutual funds
Gopal Kavalireddy, Research Head, FIRES, said that the growth of the industry has not been as expected in 2022 due to uncertainty in the stock market and changes in interest rates. This is the reason why investors have entered mutual funds afresh. The average monthly SIP investment in the calendar year has been Rs 12,500 crore.
Business of more than 13000 in November and December
Akhil Chaturvedi, chief business officer, Motilal Oswal AMC, said the increase in assets in 2022 was mainly due to the spurt in SIPs, which touched Rs 13,000 crore in November and December. Apart from this, AMFI played an important role in spreading awareness related to mutual funds among retail investors.
1.61 lakh crore investment in equity scheme
Chaturvedi said that the year 2022 is expected to be more in 2023. The average monthly SIP is touching around Rs 14,000 crore. In 2022, Rs 1.61 lakh crore has been invested in equity schemes. Whereas in 2021, Rs 96,700 crore was invested in equity schemes.
