INDW Vs NZW: Huge Runout Controversy As Amelia Kerr Survives Despite Of Being Out | Here’s Why

India Women Vs New Zealand Women Runout Controversy: The Match 4 of the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 between India Women and New Zealand Women has sparked a huge controversy as Amelia Kerr was deemed ‘not out’ after being clearly run out by India during the first innings.

The incident occured during the last ball of the 14th over being bowled by Deepti Sharma. Amelia Kerr knocked the ball down towards the long off region and upon seeing the slow gathering of ball from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, the duo (Amelia Kerr and Sophie Devine) decided to sneak a clever 2nd run, but failed miserably in their attempt as Amelia Kerr was well-short off her ground and India Women started celebrating.

However, when Amelia Kerr started walking back, the umpires called her back and this incident baffled the Indian dugout who started questioning the decision of umpires calling the ball ‘dead’ right after the first run.

However, things took a funny turn as the same Amelia Kerr who survived a runout scare, departed in the very next over without adding an extra run on the scorcard.

The incident has sparked furious reaction on social media as India fans can’t believe that such a decision took place and hence, labelled the incident as ‘blunder of the century’.

Here are some of the viral tweets:

New Zealand Women End Their Innings At 160/4

Sophie Devine’s excellent knock of unbeaten 57 off 36 balls included 7 boundaries and her vital innings have helped New Zealand Women pose a total in excess of 150, as they end their innings at 160/4.

India Women will need to produce an excellent start in-order to chase down the total, as conditions at the Dubai International Stadium in the second innings won’t be of much help for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side.
