Indian stock market closed with a fall due to selling in banking stocks

Stock Market Closing On 15th June 2023: After three days of boom, the Indian stock market saw a decline in Thursday’s trading session. The Indian stock market closed down due to heavy selling in banking sector stocks and profit booking by investors. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed down by 310 points at 62,918 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed down by 68 points at 18,688 points.

The biggest decline in today’s trade has been seen in banking stocks. Bank Nifty closed at 43,443 points with a decline of 544 points or 1.24 per cent. Shares of IT, metals, real estate, energy sector also closed down. While the shares of Auto, Pharma, FMCG, Infra, Consumer Durables Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors closed sharply. Mid-cap and small-cap stocks also closed sharply. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 14 closed higher and 16 closed down. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 22 closed with gains and 28 closed with losses.

In today’s trade, Nestle closed with a gain of 1.12 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra 1.01 per cent, ITC 0.83 per cent, Asian Paints 0.76 per cent, HCL Tech 0.76 per cent, Maruti Suzuki 0.60 per cent. While Wipro closed down by 1.93 per cent, IndusInd Bank by 1.81 per cent and SBI by 1.80 per cent.

decline in investor wealth

Due to the recovery in the Indian stock market, there has been a slight decline in the wealth of the investors. The market cap of companies listed on BSE has come down to Rs 290.72 lakh crore, which was Rs 290.85 lakh crore on Wednesday. In today’s trading session, there has been a decline of Rs 13000 crore in the wealth of investors. However, in the morning trade, the BSE market cap also made a record high of Rs 292 lakh crore.
