Railway Station Redevelopment Project: Indian Railways is soon going to improve the deteriorated picture of its stations. Along with this, the Railways has decided to upgrade 16 railway stations to provide better facilities to its passengers. The Railways will invite bids over the next two months for redevelopment at 16 stations, including the Anand Vihar Terminal, under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

According to sources, other stations to be redeveloped include Tambaram, Vijayawada, Dadar, Kalyan, Thane, Andheri, Coimbatore Junction, Pune, Bengaluru City, Vadodara, Bhopal, Chennai Central, Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin and Avadi.

Indian Railways plans to bid for these stations in the current year. Sources said that these railway stations will be upgraded to ensure better infrastructure and accessibility for the passengers. Various monetization models are being examined to encourage the private sector. In the first phase, there is a plan to redevelop 199 stations with a strength of 50 lakh per day.
Tender issued for 47 stations
Let us tell you that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said earlier this month that the design of the redeveloped stations will also include provision of space for retail sales, cafeteria and recreational facilities. Railway Minister Vaishnav had said that the tender has been issued for 47 stations and work is going on at 32 stations. At the same time, a target has been set for the redevelopment of New Delhi station to be completed in three and a half years.
