IND Vs AUS: The four-match Test series between India and Australia is going to start from 9 February. After 18 years, Australia is expected to win the series on Indian soil. However, to win the series on Indian soil, Australia’s spinners will have to perform strongly. Former Australia coach Darren Lehmann believes that left-arm spinner Ashton Agar can prove to be a trump card in India. Darren has demanded Agar’s inclusion in the team as a second spinner.

Agar has played five Test matches so far and he did not get a wicket in his last Test match against South Africa in Sydney. But Lehmann believes that a finger-spinning bowler can be successful on Indian pitches.

Agar can do wonders

Lehmann said, “The finger spinner takes support of the wind and the ball sometimes spins and sometimes does not.” But the leg-spinner sometimes spins too much while the finger-spinner can bowl a few balls to the batsman and get him out lbw.”

The former coach further said, “That’s why they should consider keeping the finger spinner.” We did that four years ago and Steve O’Keefe bowled the Indians out to give Australia a win which was our last win there.”

Off-spinner Nathan Lyon is Australia’s main spinner. Although Agar can do wonders with the bat as well. Lehmann said, “That’s why I’m advocating keeping a player like Agar in the team who can do a bit of batting and also play the role of a second spinner.”
