Buddha Amritwani, Gautam Buddha Story: We all know that a person’s mind is very fickle. This is the reason why the mind remains restless and many types of questions are also born due to the restless mind. If you want peace in life, then it is necessary to calm the mind. But how to calm the mind.
Through this story related to Gautam Buddha, you can know what is the way to calm the mind. In this, Lord Gautam Buddha has told about the dimensions of calming the mind. Know about this story, which will change your life.
story to calm the mind
Once a boy went to Gautam Buddha and said, ‘There is a lot of disturbance in my life. Please guide me so that I can get rid of this disturbance?’. Gautam Buddha asks the boy the reason for the unrest of life. The boy replies ‘due to excessive thoughts, many thoughts come within me, due to which my mind remains restless’. Buddha smiles and says- ‘Look up at the sky and tell that you can see the sun.’
The boy looks up and says the sun is visible. Buddha asks him what will happen if you stand in the sun continuously? He says, I will feel very hot and there will be restlessness in the body.
Buddha tells the boy that if you feel hot by standing in the sun, then whose fault is it? Sun’s heat or yours? The boy says after thinking something, you also tell the answer. Buddha says, Sun’s job is to give heat and heat’s job is to get hot. In such a situation, it is your fault that you went and stood in the sun, due to which you felt hot. If you want coolness then you have to stay in the shade.
Similarly, it is the nature of a fickle mind to awaken thoughts and feelings. Thoughts are for a moment, but the feelings generated by the thought remain for a long time. But it is up to you to decide whether you want to go with the thoughts and feelings or make a different direction.
how to calm the mind
The easiest way to calm the mind, says the Buddha, is to work on the dimension of the body. At the level of the body, we have organs of action and sense organs. Karmendriya is related to action and Gyanendriya is related to knowledge. With this we can increase our sensitivity. That is, whatever work we do, do it with joy. Moving away from the dimension of the mind and going to the dimension of the body, your mind will become peaceful.
By doing this you will move away from the dimension of the mind and come to the dimension of the body. Just like you could move out of the sun and into the shade. When you move away from the dimension of the mind, your awareness will come to the body. When you work on the dimension of the body, then your mind will be calm. That’s why by doing every work on the dimension of the body, the mind automatically becomes calm.
Listen to the tone, not the thoughts and feelings of your mind
The boy asks the Buddha, how to listen to your inner voice? Buddha says, by living in a quiet place, where there is peace. Then close your eyes and try to listen to the inner voice away from the noise going on inside the mind. The tune goes on continuously. But because of the noise outside, you cannot hear the sound going on inside your mind. When you close both your ears with your hands, then only you will be able to hear the sound of the mind. In this way you will go away from the disturbance of the mind and your mind will become calm.
