‘Impact player rule’ gave these players a chance to be sold, in this way these veterans will be useful for teams

Impact Player Rule: In the mega auction held before IPL 2022, Indian players like Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma and Piyush Chawla were unsold, but this time all three found buyers. According to cricket experts, due to the implementation of the Impact Player Rule in IPL 2023, these players got a chance to be sold. Cricket experts are also saying that due to this rule, these veteran players can also prove to be effective.

Former Indian player and expert Deep Dasgupta believes that ‘Impact Player Rule’ is a boon for all those players whose career is on the decline. He said, ‘Mumbai Indians may not need Piyush at Wankhede at all, but if he plays in Chepauk then he may be needed. There Piyush can make a difference with his bowling.

A coach of the domestic team, who worked with Gautam Gambhir, told PTI on the condition of confidentiality, ‘Amit Mishra is among the top three bowlers who have taken the most wickets in IPL. Yes, he is 40 years old and he is not a good fielder either, but you don’t need to keep him in the playing-11 for the whole time. Gautam Gambhir can use Mishra as an ‘impact’ player in some matches.

Four Indian veteran players sold in base price
Amit Mishra was bought by Lucknow Super Giants, Ishant Sharma by Delhi Capitals, Piyush Chawla by Mumbai Indians and Mohit Sharma by Gujarat Titans. All these players have been sold at the base price (50 lakhs). At one time these four bowlers were known as lead bowlers in IPL.

What is the Impact Player Rule?
Under this, teams will be able to strategically field one of their players as a substitute. Under this rule, teams have to announce their playing-11 at the time of toss as well as tell four substitutes. Teams will be able to use only one substitute out of these four. Till the 14th over of any innings of the match, teams can send Substitutes on the field.

For this, the umpire or fourth umpire present on the field will have to give information at the end of the over. Any one of the captain / head coach / team manager will be able to tell this to the umpire. The player in whose place the new player will be sent, that player will remain out of the entire match, that is, he will not be seen even while fielding.
