Ingredients for Chana dal fry
- Chana Dal – 150 grams
- Tomato – 2 chopped
- Onion – 1 chopped
- Garlic and ginger – 1 teaspoon each in paste form
- Green chili – 2. Desi ghee – 2 spoons
- Salt – one teaspoon
- Asafoetida – a pinch
- Turmeric powder – one teaspoon
- Garam masala – half teaspoon
- Coriander powder – one teaspoon
- Cumin – half teaspoon
- red chili – one
- bay leaf – one
- Cinnamon – 2 pieces
- Water
How to make Chana Dal Fry
Wash chana dal thoroughly and soak it in water for four to five hours. Add pulses, two cups of water, one teaspoon turmeric and salt according to the test in the cooker and cook for five whistles. Remember to keep the flame on high till one whistle and after that keep the flame on medium. Heat two spoons of ghee in a pan. Add bay leaf to it, add finely chopped onions, green chillies and ginger garlic paste to it. Fry all till golden. After this add coriander powder, garam masala and turmeric powder. Finally add chopped tomatoes and salt and cook. After cooking till the tomatoes melt well, add the spices to the gram dal. Now heat the tempering pan for tempering. Heat ghee in it and fry by adding asafoetida, cumin, cinnamon and add red chillies and temper the lentils. Fry Chana Dal Tadka is ready. Serve hot with roti or rice.
