Canceled Train Ticket Refund Claim Rule: Many trains are running late in the winter season. At the same time, due to fog, the Railways is canceling trains every day. The number of trains to be rescheduled is also more than before. If you are unable to travel due to delay or cancellation of any train, then you can get a refund on your ticket.

As per railway rules, you don’t need to do anything to get a refund on a canceled train. Refund is automatically sent to the account. However, if your train has been rescheduled or diverted and you want to get a refund on it, then you will have to file TDR (TDR Filing).

How to get refund on divert and reschedule

If your train has been rescheduled or is running late by more than 3 hours, you can claim a refund on your confirmed ticket. Also, if the route of the train has changed and the train in which you are about to travel is not passing through your station, then you can get a refund on your confirmed ticket.

Fill TDR like this to get refund

TDR stands for Ticket Deposit Receipt. By filling this you can claim for refund (Ticket Refund Claim). To file this, you have to go to the IRCTC website. Here you log in and go to the My Account section. Now go to My Transactions option and select the option to file TDR. Check the given information related to the ticket and submit it.

When will the refund come

If your train is late and you have filed TDR to get refund, then refund will be issued to you. Before sending the money to the account, Railways will check your train late or reschedule and divert claim. If the claim is found correct, refund will be issued within 3 to 7 days.
