growing faster than weeds
Ian Chappell wrote in his article for ESPN Cricinfo, “The entire cricket structure, especially the Future Tour Program (FTP), needs a thorough but positive review keeping in mind. T20 leagues are growing faster than weeds in summer.”
He further wrote, “In the midst of growing T20 leagues, now players need to decide in which league they want to play and in which not. Now T20 leagues are clashing with each other and star players are signing long term contracts with the clubs. In such an environment, the leagues will not be able to agree to a limited number of star players, in which those leagues will suffer financially.

He further wrote about Test cricket, “Test is a tough game and players are entitled to participate in this format if it is their choice. The countries involved in this need a strong first class infrastructure. Many teams do not have the money to build such infrastructure, as the investment made from this expense does not return. Administrators prefer profitable leagues. It is better to have Test status mainly confined to eight nations which have a long culture of this format.
