How to report and block objectionable photos or videos on WhatsApp

[ad_1]

Report an offensive Content: Instant messaging app WhatsApp has introduced a Snapchat-like View Once feature to give users more control over their privacy. Once it is opened, the pictures and videos disappear from the chat. Once the photo or video is viewed, the sender receives an “opened” message.

Sometimes it may happen that you may find some objectionable messages under photos or videos in a view. The sender can be your WhatsApp contact or some unknown user. These objectionable messages can take a toll on your mental and emotional health. To help you deal with such situations, WhatsApp is showing you how to report such content with a few simple steps.

Report a photo or video on your Android device.

  1. Go to the WhatsApp chat from which you have received the ‘view once’ content.
  2. Open the ‘Watch Once’ content.
  3. Tap on the three-dot menu option available on the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Select the Report Contact or Report Unknown Users option.

Report photos or videos on iPhone

  1. Go to the WhatsApp chat that sent you the ‘view once’ content.
  2. Open the ‘view once’ photo or video.
  3. Tap on the three-dot menu button available at the bottom corner of the screen.
  4. Tap on Report Contact or Unknown User option

Once the user is reported, WhatsApp will receive the content and either take appropriate action against the user or suspend the reported user’s WhatsApp account. Here you are advised to share photos or videos with ‘View Once’ media with people you can trust as the Shared Content may contain personal information. To enhance user privacy, WhatsApp has updated its ‘View Once’ feature to prevent receivers from taking screenshots or screen recordings of sent content.
