On the day of Holi, a procession decorated with a sheet of flowers is taken out in this dargah with music and music. This procession leaves the Qaumi Ekta Gate at 8 am and reaches the tomb at 12 noon. Everyone reaches the tomb chanting the slogan ‘Jo Rab hai wahi Ram hai’. The people of the tomb stand here and welcome the procession. People come here from every corner of the country and unite and a wonderful and unique Holi is played in the city of Sufi saint.

History of Holi in Dewa Sharif Dargah

Sufi Saint Haji Waris Ali Shah Sahib had respect for every religion and people of every religion loved him. Sufi Sahab also used to see people of every class with equal perspective. On the occasion of Holi, he used to wait to play Holi with his friends and used to play Holi together. He wanted the people of Barabanki to play Holi together like this. That’s why even after his death, this tradition continues unabated.

The Deva Sharif Mazar of Haji Waris Ali Shah was also built by his Hindu friend Raja Pancham Singh. Not only Holi, this place has been giving the message of Hindu-Muslim unity since the construction of the tomb. Hindu devotees visit this tomb in more number than Muslim devotees.

At present, Shahzade Alam Warsi is in charge of the tradition of playing Holi in this tomb. Apart from Holi, the example of unity and brotherhood is also seen in this tomb on the occasion of Diwali. Even on the day of Diwali, Hindus and Muslims together light the tomb with lamps.
