Harbhajan Singh, the ex-India spinner, has been lashed out at by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) physiotherapist Tommy Simsek. Notably, Simsek who has been part of the CSK support staff, responded to Harbhajan’s comment that MS Dhoni, who is usually calm and composed, punched a screen on his way back to the dressing room after CSK’s defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the last league-stage game of IPL 2024 which eliminated the Men in Yellow from the tournament. Simsek termed that Harbhajan’s comment was “fake”.

“RCB was celebrating and they deserved to celebrate because of the way they won. I was watching the whole scene from above because I was present there. RCB was celebrating and CSK had lined up to shake hands, RCB were a little late to reach CSK. By the time Team RCB finished their celebration, (Dhoni) went inside and he punched a screen outside the dressing room. I was watching from above but it is okay that every player has his own emotions, it happens,” Harbhajan said in an interaction with Sports Yaari.
Responding to Harbhajan, Simsek said that he had not seen Dhoni aggressive after any match of IPL 2024.
“This is absolute Rubbish! MSD did not break anything and I have never seen him aggressive after any match. Fake news!” Simsek said in a commenting on an Instagram post that shared Harbhajan’s remark on the five-time IPL winning captain.

MS Dhoni Can Now Be Retained As An Uncapped Player
Notably, the new IPL retention rules will allow CSK to retain Dhoni as an uncapped player. Any player who has not played international cricket for the past five years will now be treated as uncapped which will mean, Dhoni, who last played for India in 2019, will enter IPL 2025 in that category and can be retained by the franchise. Whether or not that decision will be taken though will depend on the player and the franchise.
