The GST Council has given information on its official account on the social media platform Twitter. The Council has written, “The 49th meeting of the GST Council will be held in New Delhi on February 18, 2023. State Finance Ministers will also be included in the GST Council headed by Finance Minister Nirmala. It is known that the 48th GST Council meeting was held on December 17, 2022 through video conference.

1.55 lakh crore collection in January

The Finance Ministry had recently told that the GST collection has increased to more than Rs 1.55 lakh crore in the month of January. This is the second biggest collection till date. The Finance Ministry had said, “The gross GST revenue till 5 pm on 31st January 2023 is Rs 1,55,922 crore.” Of this, CGST is Rs 28,963 crore, SGST is Rs 36,730 crore, IGST is Rs 79,599 crore (including Rs 37,118 crore collected on import of goods) and Cess is Rs 10,630 crore (including Rs 768 crore collected on import of goods).
