Ministry of Commerce gave this statement
The Commerce Ministry issued a statement in this regard on Sunday. In the statement, the ministry clearly said that no restriction has been imposed on the export of onions from India to any country. The government has banned the export of only onion seeds from India. It has been said in the statement, the government has not imposed any restriction or any kind of restriction on the export of onions. The ban is only on the export of onion seeds.
Piyush Goyal also tweeted
Earlier, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal had also denied the news of ban on export of onions. The minister had told in a tweet on Saturday that the export of onions from India to any country is not restricted. He also said that the statements in which such statements are being made are unfortunate.
Supriya Sule had said this
Actually, this clarification from the government has come after a tweet by NCP leader Supriya Sule. The NCP leader had made a tweet on 25 February i.e. Saturday regarding the export of onions.
Onion export has increased so much
In a statement released on Sunday, the Ministry of Commerce also gave information about some figures regarding the export of onions. According to the data, India has exported onions worth $ 523.8 million during the first nine months of the current financial year i.e. April 2022 to December 2022. This is an increase of 16.3 percent in onion exports on an annual basis. During December 2022 alone, onion exports had increased by nearly 50 percent to $52.1 million.
