Railways asked for 30 percent more funds
Less than two months are left for the presentation of the last general budget of the second term of the Modi government. Different ministries and sectors have submitted their list of demands to the Finance Ministry. The Ministry of Railways has also handed over a bunch of its demands to the Finance Ministry. In the upcoming budget, the Ministry of Railways has demanded 30 percent more budget in 2023-24. Through this fund, Railways is going to announce to run many new Vande Bharat trains. Along with laying new railway tracks, it will spend on strengthening the infrastructure and increasing security.
93% of the allocated fund has been spent

In 2022-23, the Ministry of Railways was allocated Rs 1.37 lakh crore for capital expenditure, apart from Rs 3267 crore for revenue expenditure, which was 17 percent more than the previous year. Till October 31, Railways has spent 93 per cent of the allocated budget. In which Rs 1.02 lakh crore has been spent on capital expenditure and Rs 25,399 crore has been spent on revenue expenditure.
Earnings from passenger and freight increased by 76 percent
By the next month, a decision will be taken on the budget to be allocated to the Railways, which is believed to be a huge increase in the budget of the Railways. Railway’s income has increased due to passenger and freight traffic. Till November 30, 2022, there has been a 76 percent increase in the earnings of the Railways. In which the income from freight has increased by 16 percent. The government is hopeful that this trend will continue next year as well. Railway’s focus is also going to be on asset monetization.
