Daryl Mitchell suffered a fractured finger on his right hand last week. After this he was dropped from the tri-series being played against Pakistan and Bangladesh. Now in the latest scan it has been found that his injury is recovering fast.
New Zealand coach Gary Stead said in a statement, ‘We are hopeful that he will be available for the first match. For the second match, he will definitely join the team. New Zealand will play its second match in this World Cup against Afghanistan on 26 October.
Daryl Mitchell was the semi-final hero of the last T20 World Cup
In last year’s T20 World Cup, Daryl Mitchell had led his team to the final. He played a memorable innings against England in the semi-final match. He scored 72 runs in 47 balls to help New Zealand win by 5 wickets against England. However, New Zealand had to face defeat against Australia in the final match.
